Day Eleven

I started to grow self conscious about all the pictures I’m posting of this cute little face, and then I reminded myself that with the possible exception of my parents showing off their Grandson to people at church, nobody is being forced to look at every picture.  Thanks for understanding the fact that I can’t get enough of looking at this little guy.

Today was another mixed bag of firsts… mostly good.  And let me get the bad out of the way first.  I had my first (and I will do everything in my power to make sure it’s the LAST) fingernail trimming accident.  He didn’t really cry.  Not even close to how he cries when we torture him with a sponge bath.  But it bled a little, and broke Mommy’s heart.  His nails are SO LONG, and he starts to scratch himself, so I have to do something.  He doesn’t like filing at all, but maybe it’s because the baby nail file they sell stinks.  I wouldn’t want to file my nails with it.  I think I will try filing with a very good nail file and try to avoid cutting unless I have to.  Thanks for hearing my confession, now on to the fun stuff.

Today Mommy and Daddy got a little stir crazy, and with Brendan’s eye cleared up, we decided to take our first shopping outing (all of 20 minutes) to Old Navy.  He did great!  And we didn’t let any of those germy strangers come anywhere near him.  Then we took him home, fed him, and decided that we really needed to eat a vegetable.  Afterall, it’s been 11 days.  So we took him to HuHot!  For those of you not in the know, HuHot is  a Mongolian BBQ place so you can pile veggies, meats and noodles into a bowl with sauce – and then the nice man cooks it up for you.  It was a perfect first restaurant outing.  There was nobody there, we got a booth in the corner, (we asked for that table, otherwise nobody puts baby in a corner) and we were in control of how fast our food came.  Again, he was a champ.  I know this ‘eating out’ phase won’t last, just like the straight 6 hours of sleep at night didn’t last… but we sure had fun.  Other than that, just more and more and more cuteness….

Hey, hope its alright that Lisa gave me the info so I could check out the blog – she was getting tired of me bugging her for updates! He’s gorgeous and you guys look so happy! And, believe it or not, it just keeps getting better.

For his fingernails, try biting them. Seriously. Many nurses and moms recommended it for me when I was too scared to even think of using a clipper on Cian. You know you won’t chew on his finger, and if you can get a grip on his nails they come right off. Besides, he probably likes sticking his fingers in your mouth anyway.
