Monday Musings

We started this morning with what may have been a milestone. Brendan was in his pack and play as we were getting ready for work. Daddy walked out of the room, and Brendan started to cry. As I walked in, he looked right up at me and said, “Mama” with his arms outstretched. Now, to be honest, he says “Mamamamamama” all the time, so we’re not 100% sure it was purposeful, but as Rob said – it sure sounded like it. Either way, he got scooped up by his Mama and we shared a hug that I can assure you was 100% purposeful.

Then Mama kept her promise and went to see the doctor this morning. I told Rob if I wasn’t really better by Monday I would go, and I wasn’t. Turns out I have a sinus infection, and 10 days of antibiotics – but the fun part was having a little peanut on my lap as I got my ears, nose and throat checked. He was very interested, and very well behaved – although he did laugh when she gave me the diagnosis. I didn’t think that was called for. He also accompanied me to the pharmacy and sat up on the counter making eyes at the pharmacist while I dug around my purse for my wallet and paid. It was definitely the most delightful trip to the doctor I have ever had.

Then in the middle of a meeting I got a call from daycare. It’s always when I’m meeting with my boss…. this time they wanted to let me know that Brendan had a great morning, and then went down for a nap – and had been sleeping for almost 4 hours!!! The longest nap he has ever taken at day care was about 1.5 hours – his norm is around 45 minutes. At home it’s about the same. So I got myself right down there to check on my little man. By the time I got there, he was up and joyously bouncing around the room. I got a royal greeting and he enthusiastically finished his bottle in my arms (he had missed TWO meals, afterall…). He seems to be fine. My hunch is that he is just tired from all his new activity – including this…

He’s been looking at them longingly for a couple of weeks. But this weekend, with Daddy’s help he started climbing.
