Grandmas and Grandpas

Whenever I post too many pictures, I often admit (hope?) that only my Mom will look at all of them. I have come to learn that there are a couple other people who love us so much, and are crazy enough, that they read every word, and delight in every single picture. One of those people is a woman named Sandy who has known me since I was Brendan’s size. She is part of our church family, and has been a treasured friend in so many ways throughout the years. Tonight I learned that her husband passed away. It’s hard to think about posting happy pictures and going about my daily life when someone so close is experiencing such loss. Sandy is also a Mom, and a Grandma – she is surrounded by so much love, and Sandy whenever you read this I hope you can feel the Gianino family sending extra love and prayers your way.

And now, I will post too many pictures.

With Grandma and Grandpa visiting, our house was filled with extra hugs, extra adoration, delicious food, and chores that magically got done. Brendan got to play hookey from school, and Rob and I heard tales of all the fun that happened while we were at work. Apparently there was even some play in a bowl of water – but since it was Grandma and Grandpa rather than, ‘The Babysitters’, this was a kitchen bowl in the backyard, rather than a toilet bowl in the bathroom.

Let me just start by asking one question – dontcha just hate it when your tool belt pulls your monkey pajamas down and your diaper shows? Me too.

As previously documented, Grandma and Grandpa got to be some of the very first fingers to be held while walking practice commenced. Right now he takes great big steps – so big they throw him off balance. It’s like he has waited so long to be able to do this walking thing, that he doesn’t want to waste any time. Grandpa even helped him ‘walk’ up the entire flight of stairs.

There was also a new toy brought out: the workbench. Obviously Grandpa was the one who had to show him the ropes here.

He showed off his favorite new toy: the pyramid. He uses this almost like a walker as he crawls, banging it on the tile as he does his laps around the kitchen.

There was much clapping and glee, and Grandpa telling Brendan that he is “sooooooo big” (stretching out his little arms as wide as they will go), which left the Peanut in hysterics:

The pooch is in trouble these days. Brendan climbs all over her, and is now even speedy enough to catch her tail. Lucky for all of us, Chelsea doesn’t seem to mind too much.

And even though the men are his favorite play buddies right now, it wouldn’t be a visit without some special snuggles with Grandma.

Brendan was so tired after his day with the Grandparents that he didn’t even want a story. His head was barely on the mattress before his eyes were closed tight. Mommy and Daddy weren’t far behind.

And for my Mom (and Sandy), there are a few more pictures here.
