Spring

I love the longer spring evenings. Each night when we get home, Brendan asks for us to have a picnic. It’s one of my favorite things. We head out to the front step, just the two of us, and enjoy watching the breeze dance in the trees. We smell flowers, we talk to the ladies walking their dogs, we notice any cars that happen to drive by. And of course, we wait for Daddy to come home. That may be one of the main reasons Brendan wants to be outside – because after Daddy comes home, the fun really starts and he doesn’t want to miss a second.

And if we’re really lucky, the Uncles make an appearance somewhere in the evening hours…

The puppy is never left out of the action for too long.

We took Brendan to the zoo today. His second visit to a zoo, a different one this time – one that has elephants.

He was intrigued by all the animals – particularly the giraffes who truly seemed to walk right up to him specifically,

He also liked the giant lizard thing (whom he called a snake, ‘sssssss’).

Sadly the lions weren’t really doing much today – Lion King has replaced Cars as his current favorite movie. In fact every time we are in the car he says, ‘more lion?’ which means he wants us to play one of the two Lion King songs I have on my iphone. At least we got to see this nice fellow.

He also loved riding the ‘choo choo train’, and wanted to sit between us on the bench seat like a big boy, rather than being in either one of our laps.

But his favorite thing by far was climbing on rocks, balancing on curbs, running down grassy hills, and playing with the boys. When he saw that the big boys were all wearing their hats, he came back to get his. And as it got well past nap time and we started to leave, he cried, “I wanna see people!!!! I wanna play with people!!!” I love that we took him to the zoo, and the animals were the least interesting part to our little man.

I know what you are thinking… Are Brendan and Lori wearing matching shoes? And does her backpack match his shirt?

Maybe.

  1. Linda says:

The Uncle peering over the fence looks like a Dr. Suess Uncle; a giant–maybe one who moves about with a climbing plant with yellow flowers.

I hope The Uncles like me (us) when I (we) visit.
