Beach Chalet at Sunset

We were so happy to have Uncle Blake come up for a visit – and even more excited that his parents also met us for a late lunch/early dinner (lunner?) at the Beach Chalet in SF – literally a block away from where Rob and I used to live.  Blake’s Mom was going through breast cancer at the same time I was – actually she was just ahead of me in her treatment, and she was a tremendous pen pal/support for me.  So great to see her doing so well six years out.

It was crazy to be there at Ocean Beach with the Peanut this time, and awesome to watch the sunset over our ocean – the same view we had from our living room for the first years of our marriage.  As the sun just touched the horizon, a little boy said to his mother, ‘Look!  The sun is standing on the water’.  I melted.  Brendan was sooooo good while we ate. Just sat and played with my hand, and smiled and was his usual charming self.

We still wish that Blake would move back up here, and we will continue to pressure him to do so – but until then, it’s always good to see him whenever we get the chance.
