Catch-up

The fact that I haven’t been feeling so great has not prevented us from having fun. Brendan is a whole new little boy these days. He crawls full speed and he can (and does) pull himself up to stand on anything and everything. Rob and I haven’t quite gotten used to the fact that he can go where he wants to. It’s still so strange to see his little head peek around the corner as he follows wherever you go. We love it.

Grandma and Grandpa came up for a visit on Tuesday/Wednesday, and I was concerned that they didn’t know what they were in for when they asked to keep him home from school all day. Turns out I was right, but in a totally different way. After a day of crawling around on the floor together, arms outstretched to be picked up, and real hugs – they fell even harder for their grandson. Grandpa was up bright and early on Wednesday – I know he doesn’t like to miss any time with his grandson, or his son-in-law. Grandma was catching a few extra winks in bed, so we stuck the baby in with her, and I think that may have been her favorite part of the trip.
Since we didn’t get to have our Easter with them, they brought Easter to us – complete with ham dinner and Easter baskets for all of us. Brendan got the hang of it immediately, and went over to snoop in everyone’s basket before it was time to look. There were even some belated Christmas gifts from the Leong’s to open, and among those was Brendan’s new favorite toy – a musical table where he can stand and play for endless amounts of time.

We offered Brendan some of almost everything from Easter dinner. He ate all of it, but he definitely has a new favorite: ham. No matter what else is on his tray, he will eat every last piece of ham before he reluctantly moves on to anything else. He is still a much more dainty eater than the other boys at school, but he speeds up to get all the ham in his mouth as quickly as possible.

Hopefully this weekend will see a full recovery for me so that I can be back to enjoying every little thing at 100% capacity.
