Coming home

Rob and I usually take the red eye to Boston, but we decided to avoid them this time since we’ve got a new traveling buddy.  Yet somehow on both the way there, and the way back, we ended up having to wake up at hours of the morning that people really shouldn’t have to see.  The poor peanut was exhausted.  Still, he was happy to hand out the smiles to anyone who wanted one.  He did a good job on the plane.  There were some wiggly times, a couple walks down the aisle bouncing him until he could fall asleep, and he never stayed asleep for long – but he was still very well behaved.

On the way out we gave his performance an A+, and on the way home I felt he had earned a solid B, but Daddy fought for a B-.  We explained to Brendan that he set very high expectations on the flight out, and it would be hard to always live up to that, but that a B was still a very good grade.  When we were getting off the plane, all the people around us went out of their way to tell us what a great job he did – when we told them we had given him a B-, they all lobbied for an A, and since happy seat neighbors on a plane should account for at least half your final grade, we are now happy to report an adjusted score, and an A- for the trip home.  Average that with the flight out and it’s a solid A.
