He is five weeks old today. And while I am sometimes grateful for his naps so that I can get a few things done, I also miss kissing the top of his head, nuzzling his warm neck, and looking into those pretty eyes while he is asleep.
Yesterday I noticed that he is really starting to look at things. I already mentioned that he loves to look up at the sky (which he still does!), but yesterday he was really looking around his room, and I found that he enjoys looking at his star mobile – especially when the breeze (or the air conditioner) makes the stars blow around a bit. When we turn on the mobile above his swing, it’s almost like it is too much for him, so we just keep that off, thank you very much. He still likes his black and white picture book, but he seemed uninterested in Go Dog Go, and actually CRIED when I read him Goodnight Moon! It broke my heart! To be fair, he was already fussy, I think I was just hoping it would make him as happy as it does me. Today I tried playing him some instrumental lullabies and he fell asleep immediately! Seriously, like magic! And to be totally truthful, they were lullaby versions of NIN songs that I downloaded. Too funny.
And as if on cue, I hear some cooing… time to go get my baby!
I go to work on Friday and Daddy gets to stay home. Lucky.
