Adventure

Yesterday, Rob said he wanted to go on an adventure.  I immediately started to pull out a pen and paper to plan and he said, ‘nope – we’re just going to head out on an adventure.’  Spontaneity is not my strong suit, but I went with it because Rob knows just when I need a little push (and just how much to push me…).

We ended up taking a road we’d never driven – enjoyed the beautiful country landscapes, and ended up in downtown Sonoma square.  After eating lunch outside, we strolled around, browsed in some shops, and enjoyed showing Brendan all kinds of new things.  When we were done there, we loaded up the peanut and headed home by way of the Petaluma outlets.  Rob fed Brendan, and I looked at a few stores and got a caramel apple to bring home.

It was a great day.  A couple of my favorite firsts:  One of the stores we looked in had little tiny finger puppets that would fit on little tiny fingers.  Brendan’s fingers are still a little too tiny, but I picked out a green alligator and put in on my pinky to talk to him.  He took a look at it and then grabbed it off my finger!  First time he has ever gone after something he wanted (unless you count his bottle…).  My other favorite first was sitting by a fountain.  Daddy had made a purchase and came back out with change that included three pennies – one wish for each of us.  I put Brendan’s penny in between his fingers and he held on to it.  We situated him so that he could drop it right into the fountain as soon as he was done making his wish.  I wonder what he wished for with his very first wish, but of course I didn’t ask because it would be bad luck if he told me.
