Disneyland Days

I need a little more of this in my life:

Especially after a trip, I fall into the getting things done trap. Some of it is absolutely necessary, but some of it isn’t. And as the holidays approach, I have to work hard to remember that my most favorite times of all are the slow, quiet and simple times. Cramming more in does not always equal happiness. At least not for me.

Disneyland, however, was worth a little extra effort. We had a great trip, and I think Daddy felt very celebrated. In addition to Daddy’s birthday, they were also celebrating Halloween at Disneyland, and thanks to Harper’s Mom, we found a hidden treasure of Halloween Land. Minnie and Mickey were there – and Pluto – and Woody. It’s safe to say that Brendan loves the characters – and even though he had already met Mickey and Minnie, as soon as he saw them, he looked at us and said, ‘MY BOOK!!!!’. So Mickey and Minnie signed his book again – but this time, Mickey wrote, “Your Pal, Mickey Mouse” – and Minnie added some hugs and kisses, and even kissed the page before handing the book back to Brendan. He was wowed.

There were also goats in Halloween Land – something about pumpkins and goats just seem to go together. Even the goats at Disneyland are extra happy. There was a horse that was going to sleep as we pet him.

We spent a lot of time with our pals in Cars Land, where several times Brendan actually asked to have his picture taken:

We spent some time playing hide-n-seek in our room:

And luckily, we caught a couple parades, because as Brendan will tell you, they are his favorite:

We even found one adult moment. Brendan fell asleep in his stroller at nap time (once, the entire trip) and as we headed back to the room, we made a pit stop at the pool to sit in a quiet spot with some lounge chairs and a pina colada:

And then there was this moment – when Daddy asked for the camera and I told him there was nothing to take a picture of. That’s right Mommy, nothing but a fence and TRUE LOVE!

And when we got home, we did more celebrating of Daddy’s birthday, or as the Uncles call it, “Robtober Fest”. This celebrating included homemade pizza and chocolate chip cookies, of course. And several gifts, one clearly marked:

(It was a clothes hamper. Don’t be jealous)

Brendan’s already saving his money for the next trip:

See that big pile of clothes? All too small. Somebody went on a growth spurt.

Now we move into Halloween. Brendan has decided what he wants to be, and what he wants Mommy and Daddy to be as well. We went to a pumpkin patch this weekend and Brendan got to go in his first jumpy house. It was a match made in heaven. And he will gladly tell you about ‘the big boy who take my hand and help me up’.

And even though I haven’t caught up on sleep, life is good.
